The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) posthumously honored Ray Emplit with its Lifetime Achievement Award, for Emplit’s decades of contributions to TIA standards-development projects.

“With over 50 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, Ray was an invaluable member of the TR-42 engineering committee,” the TIA said in a statement announcing the honor. “As a long-standing member since 1998, Ray held numerous leadership roles within TR-42, including chair of the committee and various subcommittees.

“An expert in the field of spaces and pathways, and end-to-end connectivity solutions, his guidance has helped shape and define industry standards, making him a true influencer and leaving a remarkable legacy,” the TIA added.

The TR-42 committee met in Charleston, SC the week of February 5, during which Emplit’s longtime employer Harger Lightning and Grounding sponsored a reception honoring his career and legacy.

Emplit passed away at the age of 75 on November 23, 2023 after being diagnosed with aplastic anemia.
